The Tilt & Turn Concept
How a Tilt & Turn Window Operates
The simple yet versatile design of a tilt and turn window allows it to
be operated by a single handle. When the handle is rotated to the
vertical position, the window can be tilted approximately 150 mm (5.9”)
inwards. When the handle is in the horizontal position, the window can
be swung open into the room.
Tilt & Turn windows have a unique design that allows for draft-free
ventilation while keeping out precipitation. This design permits the
window to swing wide open for ease of cleaning and also functions as an
emergency exit.

Features and Benefits of this Dual Action
Ventilation
A traditional open window often causes a draft due to the direct path of the
outside wind into the room. With a Tilt & Turn window, the outside air is
channeled through the sides of the window, while hotter air escapes
through the top. This process allows for efficient air circulation
without draft.
Cleaning
By swinging the window inward into the
room, you can safely and easily clean both the interior and exterior
glass surfaces.
Weather Tightness
Multipoint locking hardware maintains continuous contact with the weather strip to
keep out harsh weather and noise.
High Security
There are many security features built into the Tilt & Turn window. First,
locking points around the window securely join the sash and frame. In addition, an
integrated jamming device further prevents exterior operation. And when you feel
and hear the heavy, well-built European hardware that comes with every
Cahan product, you know your window is secure.
Emergency Exit
Unlike with traditional windows, the Tilt & Turn hardware allows the window to
open completely for a clear exit in an emergency.
